Crest lecture

Crest Lecture

When you have top specialists in their respective fields facilitating a Crest lecture in South Africa – it needs to be captured. With camera at the ready and trying to be a fly on the wall and not interfere with the lecture in progress, I captured the essence of these events for my client.

Photos such as these are great for all the participants to see, but the client will also use them as stock imagery for future promotional material in flyers, brochures or websites. Instead of using generic stock photos, these photos will be relevant and personal in the client’s future visual communication. Keep this in mind when you next host or organize a function, lecture or corporate event – that professional quality photos can be used for a lot more than just Facebook tags of the attendees.

Mnr & Mej Durbie preview

The month of April was once again the time of year when the annual Mr en Miss Durbie from Durbanville High School are being held and the 30 finalists show off their best in front of the excited crowds. The audience went crazy at the top performers on stage. A lot of effort and time has been spent to make this prestigious Durbie event a success. Interested students can purchase the full event on DVD at the school and enjoy the show. Herewith a little preview. Thanks to Willem Foster who helped film this event. SABGA

SABGA Golf Open 2014

The SABGA Golf Open  field included the three SA golfers who have Protea Colours, namely Garrett Slattery (the defending gross champion, and current International Blind Golf B2 World Champion), Leon Strydom (the defending stableford champion) and Johan Kotze (the 2012 stableford winner). Ernst Conradie (who performed well in the 2013 British Blind Open) as well as the up and coming Manie Blom and Morne Els made up the local contingent. The competition was boosted by the presence of top Irish golfer Wally Roode, playing in his first SA Open event.

The gross competition was divided into the sight categories B3 (for players with a visual acuity of below 10%) and B2 (for players with a visual acuity of below 5%). This is in line with international practice, and is done in recognition of the fact that as eyesight reduces to very low levels the game becomes increasingly challenging.

I had a great workout on this day, as I ran around on the course with the players to capture them in action. It turned out one can work out a sweat on the golf course!

Durbanville Matric Farewell Trailer

October was the month for the Durbanville Matric Farewell event. We video documented this event so that the matrics can re-live this evening of fun, joy, and goodbyes. If a school decides to treat their matriculants with such a treat, they might just as well hire a professional team to create a video that people would actually watch a few times in the years to come. It is great to have photos of such an event, but a matric farewell trailer is the cherry on the cake for the students.

Enjoy this event video preview of this stylish and glamorous evening where the matrics had a ball of a time with their fellow peers.

Herewith another clip of their Mnr en Mej Durbie event.

Wedding Video – Omar & Katherine

Sometimes the most wonderful things happen unexpectedly. The wedding video we did for this couple was a last minute booking, but looking at how the footage turned out, it must have been meant to be.
Katherine and Omar got married at the magnificent Cavalli Estate near Stellenbosch. This venue provided all the ingredients to create the magical backdrop for their perfect wedding; a luxury restaurant, the stillness of the wine lands and a vast lawn where the guests mingled and relaxed.

When we were filming this beautiful couple during the sunset, everything just fell into place. The light, the mood, the landscape, it was all brought together by this profoundly inspiring love.

Thanks to Willem Foster who helped film this event.

COUNTRY WEDDING {Video Shoot}

The creative team of Yellow Papaya invited us to participate in their Lifestyle shoot. The shoot with the theme ‘Country wedding’ was made possible by the collaboration a vast team of service providers, ranging from artisan cold meats, organic veggies, jewellery and flowers to handcrafted ceramics.

All the elements for this shoot were sourced from local suppliers. It was such a pleasure to see how everything came together on the day. The atmosphere was relaxed, the romantic scenery perfect for the theme and somehow none of us really felt like we were working.

Have a look at the original blog post where you’ll find the stunning photographs that were taken on the day.

Nectar and Melody, the happy, but also very lucky couple! They won the Tygervalley Bridal Expo competition which entitled them to free packages from some of the best service providers in the industry. Kronenburg Estate was the stunning venue for the ceremony and we were there to capture Melody and Nectar’s vows. It was great fun working with this radiant couple and the result is a romantic, heartwarming wedding video. Here’s the trailer!

Blackstoneradio Durbanville

Blackstoneradio Video Launch Durbanville

Sweet Mary Jane’ is the second single of Blackstoneradio’s debut album, Out of Rock. A noticeable step away from their signature groove rock style of music, the hip-swaying, southern folk song lends a fresh new perspective into the band’s musical ingenuity. Following their national search for a leading lady in the video, Blackstoneradio found a script-perfect candidate in the form of Jacqueline Roux. As a talented singer/songwriter herself, Jacqueline performed six of her own compositions at the official video launch event.

Set in the leafy northern suburbs of Cape Town, Altydgedacht Wine Estate played host to the event with great food and drink on offer by the Eat@altydgedacht restaurant.

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this band at this venue and I had a great time with all the lekker people and beers!

Snacks and Darling beer on tap were served to a select group of fans on a lovely spring evening on the wine farm. Jacqueline Roux is the star in the music video, but she also proved to be a promising singer/songwriter when she opened for Blackstoneradio! Next was an impressive performance from Blackstoneradio. Be sure to follow them so as to not miss their next performance!

The Pot & Spoon Pop-up

Ever heard of a pop–up restaurant?

It’s a new growing trend that started overseas and made its way to Joburg and Capetown. And now even Durbanville has its very own pop-up restaurant scene. I found myself invited to the Pot & Spoon pop-up restaurant, held at Café Ruby on the Klein Roosboom winery just outside Durbanville.

What it basically entails is that the pop-up chef moves into an established restaurant for one evening, bringing his own flair, ideas and skills to the table, while using the facilities of the venue.

The evening brought us a stunning six course meal that left the taste buds tantalized. Particularly memorable was the deconstructed cheesecake. It was accompanied by the best of Klein Roosboom’s wines, and set in a cosy and stylish atmosphere.

If you like good food, ambiance and a good time (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), visit The Pot and Spoon on Facebook to find out about their next event.
